Dele Momodu isn’t mincing words, he believes President Tinubu isn’t going anywhere in 2027 unless Nigeria’s opposition parties team up and get their act together.
While speaking during a radio interview in Ibadan, the two-time presidential hopeful made it clear that the PDP, his current party, simply can’t do it alone. “My soul has left the PDP,” he admitted, only half-joking, “just my body is still there.”
For Momodu, the real problem isn’t whether the PDP has the numbers, it’s whether they can get past their own internal drama. According to him, the ruling APC is doing everything it can to keep the PDP in pieces, knowing it’s the only party that could pose a real threat.
He didn’t shy away from criticizing what he sees as sabotage from within. He claimed some PDP members are being used to destabilize the party from the inside. Still, he insists the PDP has a solid track record of following due process, even when it comes to disciplining members.
But let’s be real, Dele doesn’t think unity alone will cut it. To seriously challenge Tinubu in 2027, he says the opposition needs to go beyond just the PDP. It’ll take a strong, broad coalition, and even then, the candidate would need to come from “the opposite direction,” regionally speaking, if they want a real shot.
