Dr. Adekunle Raif Adeniji, who is in charge of administration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat, is still being held captive because his captors want a N350 million payment to free him.
Two weeks ago, Adeniji was taken hostage in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, which is in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). They took him, his brother, his brother's wife, and his brother's son. They were armed with AK-47s.
Information suggests that Adeniji was at his brother's house when the shooters broke in. Sad to say, the kidnappers allegedly k!lled his brother's wife, Madam Esther. Her body was later found in the Ijah-Gbagyi village in the Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Since then, the kidnappers have called Adeniji's family and demanded the full sum be paid before they would free him. An unnamed family member confirmed that talks are still going on and said that the kidnappers won't let him go until they get the money they want.
Sources inside the APC have also confirmed the kidnapping. An official at the party's national office confirmed what was going on but wouldn't say more because he wanted to stress that everyone was working to free Adeniji.
Another high-level APC official, who did not want to be named, said that steps were being taken to help get him released, but they did not say if talks with the kidnappers were moving forward.
As of now, Adeniji and the other people who were taken are still being held captive, and it is still unknown if any of the ransom has been paid. Not a single official statement from the security services about what's going on yet.
